First Church of Christ Congregational

2013 has been the tricentennial of First Church of Christ Congregational, established in 1713.
The current church building on South Main Street in West Hartford is
the fifth building to house the congregation.

The snow we had a week ago has melted.

The January theme for City Daily Photo bloggers is "Photo of the Year."

  1. I like how many of your churches have wide spaces around and also some green: it is easier to appreciate the building and its architecture.

  3. I can see that this church is the "pillar of the community." As a social institution it looks powerful in making many important community decisions.

Thanks for your visit and comment on my farmers' productivity post. Solutions you ask? There are counter trends, but factory farming must continue to feed large populations for the foreseeable future.

  6. What a lovely church, Jack! And no snow!
We are digging out from a couple more inches of snow which is weighing down the trees some of which are still ice-covered. Safer to stay inside!

  8. I'm impressed how they have preserved the Neoclassical/Colonial look. It has elegance and dignity.

  9. That looks like a well-funded and imposing church with plenty of space for all manner of activities. And the spire! It would certainly inspire spire envy among our local spire-conscious Mormons!
