Trova

Ernest Trova painted and sculpted a series of armless male figures over five decades.
One of his highly polished metal sculptures sits in front of Naples' Baker Museum.

  1. Makes me wonder why his figures are armless. I love the angle you chose to take the second photo from.

  2. These are SO different form the pieces you posted yesterday. Don't prefer one over the other; like to see a variety of styles. Enjoy the way you are experimenting with different angles.

  7. When I see such sculptures (armless) it gives me the desire to make my own arms move, to free the statues'arms, it's like I had no arms more myself.. Very disturbing!
But YOUR pictures of it are great!

  8. I love cities that invest in these grand pieces of art. I wish we had a little more here in Charleston.

  9. It looks like a large jack (no pun intended) - the kind kids play with. Perhaps that's why the forms are armless?

I too like the angles you've found. Nice shots.

  12. My first thought when I clicked on the top photo to see it larger: "Man! I really like this!" And then I clicked to see the second photo at its largest and got bowled over again. Wow, wow, wow. Thank you for taking these photos and posting them, Jack!

  13. There's a famous St. Louisan. Ernie still has his presence around here but I bet most younger people don't know the name.
