Two New Britain Avenue Bus Shelters
Back to Connecticut for Monday Mural. (I haven't seen any murals in Naples yet.)
New Britain is a long street that runs along the southern part of West Hartford. Two of the bus shelters on New Britain Avenue have murals with trees as the theme. The top shelter is near the intersection with Newington Road, just outside the Elmwood Senior Center. The artist is Nan Runde.
The bottom shelter has a mural by Tao and Amy LaBossiere in front of Wolcott Park. The mural shows birches and lines from the famous Joyce Kilmer poem: I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree.
Wow! Everything is so spic and span! Love the environs :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow, can you send these over here please? Especially the aspen!
ReplyDeleteit's too early, i read "birches" as something else ;)
ReplyDeletethese are really nice!
Both of these are quite attractive but the "sons of birches" one takes the prize.
ReplyDeleteKeep swinging!
never seen any like that before. Very nice
ReplyDeleteNice that the city fathers make plans and execute them to beautify the city in many different ways. Nice touch!
ReplyDeleteThese are very nice looking Jack. I really like the second one!
ReplyDeleteThese really are very nice. I especially like the one in the second shot. It just blends in with the scenery around it so well.
ReplyDeleteThese are great, Jack, and of course, I totally agree with Lowell regarding the "son of birches"!! Have a great start for your week -- camera in hand, of course!!
ReplyDeleteI like them both Jack, but I looooove the Kilmer quote!
ReplyDeleteMy fav is the second one. I like the quote that goes with it.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed! A lot of planning must have gone into this project and the outcome is fantastic. Comments are pretty good too :).
ReplyDeleteIt's an ideal use for what's otherwise just utilitarian space!
ReplyDeleteI like the backgrounds for the benches, the project is a good one and should be an example to follow elsewhere...
ReplyDeleteLove the trees in both shelters, Jack. We learned that poem in early grade school and I could still recite it to you. I've always like it!
ReplyDeleteDoubt you'd see anything like that this side of the ditch
ReplyDeleteJack, it's great to see these beauties. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThese are great. I like the red tree.
ReplyDeleteThe paintings are beautiful, I love the Autumn tree!

Very impressive. I took a photo of a bus stop in Haninge yesterday. Might post in on the blog tomorrow. Prepare to laugh out loud.
