Usually I strongly prefer color photographs. But it was early evening and the sun was going down. A nearby hill and the overhanging trees made the scene very dark. The colors were murky and yet the elements were good. I don't get out to Norfolk often enough to retake the photos, so black and white rescued images that would otherwise have been deleted.
Norfolk is a beautiful little town in Connecticut's northwest corner. Last year I showed you Infinity Hall, an entertainment complex. Here it is again, front and back.
These came out beautifully. I am a fan of full color too...but these look better than a 'rescue' job!
ReplyDeleteBlack and white serves these photos very well.
ReplyDeleteAt one photo workshop, the instructor said that taking B & W photos on that setting in the camera attains more gradations of shading than converting color photos to B & W on the computer. At another photo workshop, the instructor said that was wrong. The second instructor removed the need to decide whether to shoot in B & W mode.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others, these B&W shots are terrific and they did come out beautifully! You do a great job with either B&W or color!! Enjoy your weekend, Jack!
ReplyDeleteA quite grey vision of a nice place...
ReplyDeleteSometimes b&w is the most appropriate medium...depends on what you want. Just ask Ansel Adams!
ReplyDeleteGreat job here, Jack!
B&W makes this place looks classic! Lovely photos. :)
ReplyDeleteI think these are great choices for black and white, Jack!

B&W works for me on this occasion, Jack! Looks like a lovely place.
ReplyDeleteThe black and white choice is perfect here!
ReplyDeleteGood shots, Jack. Black and white works nicely here.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others. Black and white works well here. The pictures are very sharp too. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteNice b&w shots.
ReplyDeleteHi Jack! Your intro photograph is very appealing in black and white. I too am drawn to strong colours and trying to photograph any other way just never occurs to me. Colour does seem to describe more in an image mostly. However, all the textures are so evident and this is good-viewing.
ReplyDeleteNice architecture and fits well in B&W!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!

Goodness me I almost missed a rare Jack B&W :) Infinity looks pretty good.. Back and front !
ReplyDeleteI prefer colour too but B&W works well here, Jack, probably because the architecture looks vintage.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful in b&w!
