Skateboarders were practicing their moves when I came across them. One young man skated alongside, making a video of the action. They seemed preoccupied, so I didn't interrupt to ask about the video.
Franklinia were discovered at one remote location in Georgia in the 1790s. A Philadelphia seedsman gathered seeds just in time, because they became extinct in the wild within a decade. All existing Franklinia derive from those seeds.
My friend Monique has a very nice small specimen Franklinia in her garden.

ReplyDeleteThat skater shot is perfect timing and I'm struck by the fancy equipment that young man is using for filming. I also learned something new in this post about the Franklinia. I had never heard of this plant and now I know it's history. Wonderful.

ReplyDeleteThe skaters look like they are having a great time. I just saw security holding a couple of skate boards on the dockside from a couple of kids who wanted to take them on a cruise. Nope, sorry, no skate boards on deck! The guys will be able to reclaim their skate boards as they leave the ship at the end of the cruise.

We never had such tools, did we? Although I did have an old school skateboard when I was 13 or 14, much to my peril.
ReplyDeleteAm enjoying all three of these shots. You covered action, social commentary, and esoteric flora. Impressive. There are trailers all over town with fresh sweet corn in them, and a cash box on a chain on the honor system. It's not all that rare around here.
