Faith Wibberly is an illustrator in Norwich, Connecticut. Over 24 hours, Faith painted a mural on the side of the Spirit of Broadway Theater. The mural shows a watering can pouring a stream of water to feed a rose -- the symbol of Norwich -- with a school of fish in the water. The mural project was a fundraiser for scholarships for area youths. While I was passing by, Faith and her helpers were rushing to fasten a ribbon on the mural for a ribbon-cutting later in the day.

It's lovely and so is the shot at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteJack, I am so glad that you posted this mural. After I saw it I checked the internet for the artist's work and found this wonderful explanation of the mural in an article from the Norwich Post newspaper:

OOps. . .it the Norwich Bulletin newspaper.
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed she was able to do paint this so quickly. I seem to be painfully slow at doing just about everything. Plus, I can't draw. :))
ReplyDeleteThey look to be getting a bit wet. Well, all things tend to grow with a little TLC... and water.
ReplyDeleteI drive through Norwich a lot, Jack, and have passed the Spirit of Broadway Theater many times. I have missed the mural though! Duh... time for another drive through Norwich.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful mural! very colorful and joyful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beauty Jack!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful mural, Jack! A talented lady she is indeed!! Great shots for the day!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that beautiful mural was done in 24 hours. That is amazing in itself.
ReplyDeleteI can appreciate how much hard work went into this. This is really a big mural. They worked really fast!

Beautiful symbol for what could be an English rose.
ReplyDeleteI like this one a lot! 24 hours is incredible, Jack!
ReplyDeleteI like this clever and quite funny variation on the theme of the Great Wave off Kanagawa, by Hokusai.
ReplyDeleteIt's terrific work!
ReplyDeleteThis is a most impressive piece of work done in such a short time!
ReplyDeleteAwesome mural.
ReplyDeleteLove murals, Jack. Love 'em. Thanks for getting these photos for your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love murals and this one is great. Love that it was done as a fundraiser.
ReplyDeleteThat would make a good sign for a car wash.
ReplyDeleteI assume she didn't work 24 consecutive hours, right? However she staged it, she did a magnificent job pretty fast. I hope it was a successful fundraiser and also hope it endures and doesn't become another ghost sign in 10 or 15 years.
ReplyDeleteA vibrant and optimistic mural. Extra points for being a fund raiser. It already seems to be a point of pride for the city. Did you notice in the videos that she used a brush instead of a spray can? You were lucky to drive by while the artist was there. Thanks for contributing to this week's Monday Mural.
ReplyDeleteFab capture Jack..using a brush, that would be impressive to do it in such a short time, I wonder if ROA uses a brush or spray can, he does his huge drawings usually overnight.
