The first night in Venice was spent in a lovely small hotel just north of Piazza San Marco. The back of the hotel overlooked a canal, and I spent some enjoyable time taking photos of the gondolas from my hotel window.
Despite several pretty good gondolas-from-my-window images taken with my DSLR, the one I liked best was of a traffic jam, which I took with my iPhone so I could send it easily to my kids.
Now that I am back in Hartford, I am conflicted about whether to show more photos from my trip to Venice -> Croatia -> Greece or to start showing new photos from Connecticut. I think that tomorrow I will show a Venetian reflection photo for Weekend Reflections, then I will start showing Connecticut photos again. But, from time to time I will slip in more photos from the trip.
wow I love this one, it's a different angle!Glad that you enjoy your trip to Venice, lovely pictures in the series, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLéia
i, for one, would be delighted with a week or so of some of your favorite travel photos before you resume your connecticut postings.
ReplyDeleteMore, more, from Venice. The people speak!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, please do slip in more travel photos. I love seeing them.
ReplyDeleteThis post made me chuckle because while spending last weekend in Chicago, I took several photos of a new building called the Aqua Building and after looking at them all, the one I like best is the one I took with my iPhone. Rather ironic.
I would be pleased to see more Venice, Croatia and Greece photos. For that itinerary, I assume you took a cruise. Julie and I did a Dalmatian Coast cruise about 8 years ago and loved it.
ReplyDeleteAccording to my friend Ken Rockwell, it's never the camera, it's the person with the camera. If you check out his website (kenrockwell.com) you'll read about how he bought one of those little throw-away cameras and made gorgeous images with it.
ReplyDeleteLike you did with your iPhone.
Re showing off your photos: Start another blog. Sheesh!
Jack, I've been enjoying your travel photos, so by all means continue posting them. Now that you are home you can reflect on the trip and give some perspective to what you saw. Love this perspective.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that we don't love Hartford Jack, but a few holiday images are always a happy intervention :) even on the canals there's the odd traffic jam, love it!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others, I do love your holiday captures and Venice and would love to see more! But, of course, I love all your shots wherever they're taken so I'm easy to please! Have a great weekend, Jack!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fabulous shot, Jack! I must tell you I am loving this series. Venice is one of my 5 favourite cities in the world.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see more of Venice Jack. Really nice photo.
ReplyDeleteTaxi....
ReplyDeleteVery nice this view from above!
I've seen many pics of Venice , but never one like this! i LOVE it!!
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for a little more about your trip, I don't know Croatia and Greece..
I love your photos...all of them. You decide :).
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool shot!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you set up a temp blog for your pictures abroad? I guess you have many interesting photos from these and other travels, so you can keep posting them without neglecting your Connecticut...
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot: absolutely a great shot!
ReplyDeleteLove the shot, Jack! Looks like the people have spoken for more holiday pics. I must admit that ever since seeing your pics from the river cruise of a couple of years ago, I have wanted to do one of those cruises.
ReplyDeleteThere couldn't be a nicer traffic jam.
ReplyDeleteKudos for getting such a different view of much-photographed Venice. So long as you post photos, I don't mind where they are. But I always enjoy a tourist's eye view on things. Sometimes visitors are drawn to things that the locals don't really notice.
ReplyDeleteI'm back again to comment on your new photo. Great hat but still no chin?! Left a message for you on my blog re. bloomin' flowers.
ReplyDeleteThe people have spoken about your Venice pics; pay attention.
You've changed your profile and other things on your site
ReplyDeleteA.traffic jam of a different sort Jack ... love it! Venice -Greece ... will be wonderful to see these far-away places through your eyes.
ReplyDeleteA comparison perhaps
ReplyDeleteI would love to see some more of your travel photos. This is a great take on a traffic jam.
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying the travel photos as well, but then again, I live in CT, so it's nice to see something different. But, I do enjoy your Hartford photos as well, and I've learned a lot about our state from them.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot! I love the perspective!
ReplyDeleteI'm all for seeing more of your trip. I see nothing wrong with getting out of town from time to time, including beautiful Hartford. And if you can't let yourself do that, how about declaring a regular travel day for a month or two to let us armchair travelers have a look?
So, okay, were you hanging from a cable?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this shot and I want to see more. PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteBTW, like your new profile photo too Jack,
V
This is a great perspective and well-snapped with your iPhone. Glad that you had a good grip on it! I would love to see more of your travel photos and will gratuitously beg if asked...
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
great perspective, even better when you know it is from a phone!
ReplyDeleteRush hour! Love it.
ReplyDeleteSUPERB images from Venezia!
ReplyDeleteAn entirely different angle!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a brilliant point of view!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations and greetings from Hungary.
