Kids!
West Hartford has kids. LOTS of kids. Baseball players, softball, soccer, lacrosse. Boy scouts, girl scouts, cub scouts, brownies. Martial arts and dancers. Marching bands.
I have always said Americans are so patriotic. I see it every time I travel to the USA. Americans are always displaying their pride regardless if it's a special day or not.
Nice series of photos here. You don't see this type of patriotism in Sweden, although The Kings Park was filled to capacity the other week when the hockey world champions were celebrated by a few thousand kids and grown-ups.
Yup, Andy, we are are prideful and patriotic group of people, and we love a parade. Your photos demonstrate very clear the joy that community spirit brings, Jack. Photos of kids are terrific!
Wonderful images. The first one is my favorite, such a lovely day and those girls are dolls!I feel happiness in this image, it's so fabulous! :) hugs Léia
I like to see young children participating on special days Jack, it's good for them to learn about the history of their country from an early age. Love the second shot with the little boy and the balloons, super street shot.
Awww, they're all so darned cute! The first two shots are wonderful!
(Re: Your wooly mammoth comment yesterday - did you know that there's a rather famous site here where they excavated mammoth bones that have been used to confirm among the earliest human activities on this continent? You could have correctly identified a descendent!)
oooh, that first one is so nice! for the 4th time we missed memorial day. there was always something else, cant even remember what. this year, obviously, it was packing... :)
