Above is a postcard showing the original location of the Fuller Brush Company -- discussed yesterday -- on Main Street in the north end of Hartford. And, below is the building today. Some nonprofit community groups occupy the space now. The only conspicuous changes that I can see are that the big windows in the tower are covered and the windows have been modernized.
It's good that the building is till being used. I like seeing the then and now.

If I hadn't read your commentary I would have guessed this to be a school. Interesting how little has changed over the years. Must have used lots of Fuller brushes and other products keeping it up!

ReplyDeleteI like the looks of the building on the old postcard better than the modernized version. Looks like this Fuller plant bit the dust too as our did in St. Paul. Haven't seen one of their products for a long timel

ReplyDeleteOur former neighbor used to be a Fuller brush man! My father-in-law used to sell Fuller brushes as a summer college job, longggg ago....

ReplyDeleteInteresting captures, Jack. We have a similar school right on U.S. 41. I love it -- very 'old school', so to speak. What's striking to me is the lack of setback. That wouldn't happen nowadays with a school.
