Buddhist Nuns

Six Buddhist nuns from the Keydong Thuk-che Choeling Nunnery in Kathmandu, Nepal, have been at Trinity College for the last two months.  They are building a mandala, a sand painting used for prayer, contemplation, and healing.  They pause from their work to perform chants, which are marvelously harmonized.

  1. A compelling cultural photo...both of them. I'm very attracted to Buddhism, but have not made the leap.

  5. A group of Tibetan monks came to the Scottsdale Center for the Arts and performed their music and chants and made a mandala. It was fascinating.

  6. Jack, these are fine photos of this group of nuns. The making of a sand mandala is a special event. Know you enjoyed being part of it.

  7. This makes me think of the time I ran into the Dalai Llama in a hotel elevator in Austin Texas. It was a surreal but, very pleasant experience.
