I think that they just look like residences from another era. Reminds me of many houses on our own historical Summit Avenue in St. Paul. I wouldn't mind prowling around these buildings for a year or two!
Oooh! Yes! Dark and sinister indeed! Perfect setting for writing a mystery -- if you were brave enough to spend a night there!! Wonderful capture, Jack! Enjoy your weekend!
They're very complicated-looking houses somehow. Not sure if like them or not, though they look historic. Maybe a different colour paint job is needed. Nice to see though.
Yes, this photo would make a great cover for a novel about Halloween or witches. Just imagine them on a dark night in the midst of storm racked by thunder and lightning!
I think it's definitely the trees that make it look a little scary ..and maybe the style and colour. I do like the 'panoramic' effect on this image Jack.
Beautiful houses from another era, I like the wide view, perfect for the case. You probably know that the Russian for 'avenue' is prospekt, which would make this quite funny to them...
I agree. I guess some witches would like to live here...
ReplyDeleteI think if the trim was painted a lighter color, they wouldn't seem so foreboding. But I would still love a place like this!

ReplyDeletei see what you mean...re: the twain house and the sense of darkness. wonder what it is about these that gives that impression.
ReplyDeleteI like this. It is very nice Jack!
ReplyDeleteNice looking houses, but, yes...they do have a creepy element to them. I wouldn't want to be a kid trick-or-treating there!
ReplyDeleteFor sure and it daylight. Up the ante when the sun goes down.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like the setting for any story that begins with the words "It was a dark and stormy night . . . "
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous, Jack!
ReplyDeleteThis place reminds me some movie scenery!

A bit of sunshine and a few flowers and they would be friendly! They are beautiful homes.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is the many bare trees. I like these old homes, they look like a great place to explore.

ReplyDeleteWell... I was going to say something like Hitchcock...

ReplyDeleteThey do have a sort of sinister look now that you mention it. I wonder if the bare trees are contributing to that feeling.
ReplyDeleteThey do look a bit sinister...but I think that is why I like them so much.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful homes.
ReplyDeleteI dunno. My impression was that they could be professors' houses on the campus of some old New England university.

ReplyDeleteLooks a bit scary.... something have happened here in the old days!?
ReplyDeleteFantastic! This looks like a movie set, exactly because there is something almost sinister here. Love this photo!
ReplyDeleteThese look like houses out of a fairytale book.
