I spend some of the winter in Connecticut and some in Florida. In mid-December, I was in Florida.
The Sidney and Beirne Davis Art Center on Fort Myers' main downtown street was originally a post office and later a courthouse. In front are two fascinating light sculptures. Internal lights project nonsense words on nearby sidewalks, steps, walls, trees, cars and pedestrians. Very cool.
I like this kind of art!I was trying to understand what language it was before reading your text! :o)
ReplyDeleteStylish!
ReplyDeleteI like it!:)
beautiful shot, jack.
ReplyDeleteThis is creative, and I am sure it was a challenge to photograph. Fort Myers would be a good place to spend time in the winter. My late uncle spent winters, then eventually moved permanently from Michigan to Naples, Florida.
ReplyDeleteMy 2 year old grandson would love this, letters are his favorite object. These letters also create a wonderful display.
ReplyDeleteI've never really understand this display, although I enjoy it. Must have been challenging to capture this at night with so many lights. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteI like this. I would enjoy studying the words shining on the walls around here.
ReplyDeleteLove this one Jack!
ReplyDeleteTotally cool Jack! Fantastic effect on the surrounding buildings and who doesn't love nonsense words!!
ReplyDeleteI agree -- a totally cool shot indeed! Hope your week is going well, Jack!

What a fantastic effect! Great shot, Jack.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you explained this. Great photo of a great effect. The only problem I see is we've got enough nonsense in the word world now! :-)
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I am not seeing any text with an explanation. I do like the effect though!

ReplyDeleteLol @ Malyss, so was I! :-) This is absolutely fabulous, I'd go photo crazy!
ReplyDeleteWhat an extraordinary and imaginative piece of art. Great captures Jack - thanks for sharing (and for the explanation!). Happy Christmas
ReplyDeleteIt's so lovely Jack, and unusual:)
ReplyDeleteNice shot. It can't have been easy capturing something so ephemeral. What an interesting piece of art!
ReplyDeleteThose light sculptures are amazing!
ReplyDeleteDo they spin? Move at all? I love the photos, Jack, and the explanation, but if I were there and the words moved, I'm not convinced that my motion sickness bracelets would keep from being dizzy, sick-feeling.
ReplyDeleteLove the wreath, it would have been cool if the words actually made some sorta sense... like passages from famous books, looks nice nevertheless.
ReplyDeleteAt first I tried to understand some word...
ReplyDeleteOh, this is really spectacular!
ReplyDeletewow! that looks amazing! too bad i had not seen this before visiting fort myers, then i certainly would have searched for it....
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS FANTASTIC! So glad you pointed me to it! I'll have to plan a trip to Ft. Myers just to see it.
