Out of the Jurisdiction: Fort Myers


I spend some of the winter in Connecticut and some in Florida.  In mid-December, I was in Florida. 
The Sidney and Beirne Davis Art Center on Fort Myers' main downtown street was originally a post office and later a courthouse. In front are two fascinating light sculptures. Internal lights project nonsense words on nearby sidewalks, steps, walls, trees, cars and pedestrians. Very cool.

    This is creative, and I am sure it was a challenge to photograph. Fort Myers would be a good place to spend time in the winter. My late uncle spent winters, then eventually moved permanently from Michigan to Naples, Florida.

    My 2 year old grandson would love this, letters are his favorite object. These letters also create a wonderful display.

    I've never really understand this display, although I enjoy it. Must have been challenging to capture this at night with so many lights. Very nice!

    I'm glad you explained this. Great photo of a great effect. The only problem I see is we've got enough nonsense in the word world now! :-)

    Do they spin? Move at all? I love the photos, Jack, and the explanation, but if I were there and the words moved, I'm not convinced that my motion sickness bracelets would keep from being dizzy, sick-feeling.

    Love the wreath, it would have been cool if the words actually made some sorta sense... like passages from famous books, looks nice nevertheless.
