Somehow I neglected to report that last year was the City of Hartford's 375th anniversary. The sign is on the railway bridge used by Amtrak, leading to Hartford's Union Station.
This post is linked to the Sunday Bridges meme hosted by Louis la Vache.
Congratulations for the past city birthday anyway.
ReplyDeleteWell you have about 200 years or so on us here in Perth Jack, or should I say Hartford does!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful way to celebrate! Novel bridge for the meme.
ReplyDeleteThe NYTimes today indicated that there will be an exhibit of Patti Smith's images, "Camera Solo" at the Wadsworth Atheneum museum from Oct. 21-2/19/12. Do you plan to visit it? I'd love to see some photos of the photos!
Wow Hartford is older than our nation, are there buildings from that era? And yes will we see photos of Patti Smith's images?
ReplyDeleteNice shot,Jack, and happy birthday to your city:)
ReplyDeleteGood job catching the fire truck in that shot!
ReplyDeleteFunny to think that some of our cities are that old. We just completed our 400th last year.
ReplyDeleteI, too, like the fire truck in the shot. Gives some "pizazz" to the photo!
ReplyDeleteThat's really old for N America!
ReplyDeleteA railroad bridge! At first glance I thought it a pedestrian bridge used to avoid crossing traffic.
ReplyDeleteNice capture! I see the word Hartford three times in this shot.
ReplyDeleteWEll all I always say it's never too late to celebrate a birthday!

Very impressive by American standards. We're just 274. But where's the fire?
ReplyDeleteCool shot...lots of 90 degree angles...
ReplyDeleteI have flown in and out of Hartford but do not ever remember seeing this bridge. It is definitely standing there right in the middle of town. Nice capture. genie
ReplyDeleteWow... I forget sometimes how much longer the east coast has been populated... here in WA if something is 125 years old, it IS old!
ReplyDeleteNice to see you back. Our town is 375 this year also, but Native Americans have been living in these parts for 10,000 years!
ReplyDeletenice shot - you managed to get in lots of Hartford signs!
ReplyDeleteStrange, your blog did not show up on my dashboard... This is a brilliant shot, with a bit of luck I guess!
ReplyDeleteThis is quite old for an american town!
ReplyDeleteHartford is really, really old by Toronto's standards.
ReplyDeletehee hee...
ReplyDelete375 years is a long time in this country, but only the twinkling of an eye in the European context.
Be that as it may, this bridge is a welcome contribution to <a href="http://bayphoto.blogspot.com/2011/10/serie-du-pont-de-dimanche-lxxxiii.html'>Sunday Bridges</a>.
