Bushnell Hall

The Bushnell is Hartford's main performing arts venue.  The beautiful Depression-era Mortenson Hall (on the left) holds about 2200 people and the new Belding Theater (in the annex behind the red Chihuly chandelier) holds about 900 people.  On a recent night, Jersey Boys and a Mahler program by the Hartford Symphony were both being performed at the Bushnell.  I am going to see Jersey Boys Friday night.

  2. The red Jacket, hydrant, and chandelier add another spot of color to the photo. Lucky you to see both the Jersey Boys and the Chihuly chandelier!! Looks like an elegant complex.

  3. Mahler is one of my favorite composers. I'd love to see his work performed in such a lovely building.
This is another great night shot. You should start getting out more in the evenings (hint, hint). :)

  6. Very nice night shot, Jack. That Chihuly chandelier is quite amazing. Nice to see that you have some culture up thataway as opposed to us poor folk in Ocala! :-)

Re the knee: Going into the 9th week since surgery...walking better, but no golf yet. Darn! Hopefully in another month, perhaps.

  7. I do love your night shot, Jack! The red chandelier is gorgeous! And I love the lighted trees. Have to admit that I'd be in a quandary -- I love Mahler, but I'm also pretty fond of Jersey Boys!! Hope your week is off to a great start!

  10. Another nice night shot, Jack. I love that red chandelier -- very cool. (And, thank goodness you tucked out of harm's way from that moving vehicle! Although, it makes me wonder if HDP has disability...)

  11. I have been on the Board of Directors of the Phoenix Symphony fro 15 years. A concert hall of 2,200 can be a challenge to fill for hardcore classics on a weeknight, although those are the most dedicated patrons.

We also subscribe to the touring Broadway shows. I would think that in Hartford you have competition because it is close enough for people to go to Broadway.

  12. Top shot Jack, I definitely want to see Jersey Boys when it comes to Perth (actually I hope it hasn't been and I've missed it). You'll have to let us know if it was worth going to!
