Another house on Prospect Avenue. Yesterday's and today's photos
seemed to require conversion to black and white.
There have been some comments asking if all the houses in greater Hartford are huge and beautiful. True, we have many large and appealing homes, and I have shown a few, but I am probably giving you the wrong impression by showing too many of the "specimen" houses like today's. It is probably time for me to prowl around other parts of town. Maybe not every day, and maybe not right away, but from time to time . . .
The scroll work on the top of the fence is wonderful, as is this terrific house. Would love to live there for just a short period to get a feel of what it might be like. It is so lovely. B&W is perfect!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely b & w-worthy! (Hmm, that would be a good theme day.) Lovely house -- a classic.
ReplyDeleteI try to post mostly images I take while out on my regular walks...with a few exceptions. If this is what you see as you move through your day, it seems entirely in the spirit of the City Daily Photo community to show what you see.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful in black and white. Sometimes I think it lends to seeing the details in a shot better, like this wonderful fence.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about showing us the "normal" side of Hartford. I'm quite content with the dream homes. :)
Lovely Jack. Great looking house.
ReplyDeleteI could manage, I could get along fine in EITHER yesterday's house or today's house.... I'm not picky. Today's "Mansion du Jour" might even have wi-fi, non?
ReplyDeleteYes, today´s house is like I see in films and series (like Desperate Housewives, e.g.) Anyway, an intereseting post of an interesting blog.
ReplyDeleteThis is another example of your town's beautiful homes. But I think prowling is a good idea. Do you prowl on all fours?
ReplyDeleteRe your comment about lightening up: Nah. Made me sleepy!
I like it all. When do you move in? :-)
ReplyDeleteYour city is very charming!I love this composition in b&w!

It is a really beautiful home Jack. I know what you mean though. Sometimes we're drawn to showing the best of our cities, I do the same with Perth, but there is always another side, tell you what when you do your first 'gritty' shot I'll look for one too haha!
ReplyDeleteI love the tour you give us of Hartford, and when I am in a new city I drive around to get a sense of the place. These homes are beautiful and do beg to be shown in b/w. It would be interesting to see some of the area's more modest offerings.
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
I tend to do the same thing because the big grand houses attract my attention and I think they make nice photos. Like this photo, which is very nice.
ReplyDeleteYes, BW is good for these. Very similar to many homes here in B'ham. Small world ya'll!

Oh, yes! The B&W are perfect for these and what a beautiful house! I was fairly sure there were "other" kinds of houses in your town, but I do love seeing these! Hope your week is going well, Jack! Enjoy!

In my dreams....!
ReplyDeleteAnother beauty Jack! I love the houses like this one and your B&W photos are so stylish!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful and looks a little like some of the houses here in Tallahassee! I like the black and white.
ReplyDeleteProwl, I'm sure it will always be interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think the B & W really shows the detail in this pic. It's nice to see the lovelyness whether it be a mansion or a wee little house.
ReplyDeleteI take photos of homes I would like to own. And I enjoy seeing homes I would like to live in other cities. But yes it is good to see other homes in other areas.
ReplyDeletebtw Jack, Thank you for your comment today. The MO river is still high and the highway north to Omaha is still closed due to flooding, but our recent severe weather warnings have been due to heat. Yesterday we hit 108 with high humidity. Seems like we have been in severe weather warnings for a couple months.
ReplyDeleteClassy fence! beautiful home - it's lovely seeing these grand homes but as you say Jack there's another side - will look forward to seeing the others!
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy seeing those specimen houses!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy looking at houses like that, but I think I'd be lost actually living in one. I like things a little cozier.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking fence and house.
ReplyDeleteGuessed the choice of the BW, Jack.
Grand! I love the B&W for this shot.
ReplyDeleteOh, Jack, you're so right about the B&W. And about me and the car shows. You see, in conjunction with The Allure of the Automobile, a special exhibition of 16 unbelievable vintage vehicles inside the Portland Art Museum, every Saturday June 18 through Sept. 10, a different sort of car either has been or will be on display. It is car heaven as far as I'm concerned because I can ride the bus within a couple of blocks of streets replete with all sorts of vintage and/or unique and/or powerful vehicles. I hope I am able to intersperse enough other sorts of posts to not bore everyone stiff with them, but I do love them so. I don't want to own a car, but I sure do like looking at them and photographing them. And just wait until I start posting the shots of the 16 inside the museum--whew!! By the way, I may not go over tomorrow because I have things to do, plus I'm not that fond of the Porsche. Of course, being a woman, I do tend to change my mind now and then. Ha, ha!
ReplyDeleteI like this in black and white!
