Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden

Driving around North Salem, New York, I saw a sign for a museum and garden that I had not previously visited.  So, on the spur of the moment I followed the signs.

After leaving the museum building (where a new exhibition was being installed) and walking through a small teahouse, we were greeted by a water lily-filled pond.   Colorful shrubs and the green leaves of yellow flag iris surrounded the pond.  We were about a week early for the yellow iris blooms.

But, our timing was good to enjoy pink and red Japanese primrose blooms.

It is called a stroll garden because the idea is to walk in the quiet beauty afforded by the trees, bushes and flowers, peacefully and meditatively.

I will come back in other seasons.
