Empty Bowls is a wonderful annual fundraiser to support the homeless in Collier County.
Restaurants donate soups.
Crowds buy the bowls and the soup and the money goes toward programs that feed the destitute.
And a DJ plays tunes of the '70s and '80s.

ReplyDeleteThe potters and the restaurants are doing good donating for this. I hope the organizers charge a good price for the soup & bowl and don't go cheap.

ReplyDeleteWe've got something a bit like that in my little town. Main difference is people are asked to come paint blank bowls,charging them $5 each, which are then fired for free at the local Kohler plant, and are used to serve soup in a lunch which costs some money to attend and they take home the bowl. Bowls probably aren't as classy looking, but they're nice usuable take-homes.
