I usually don't even try to catch a duck flying past. They take off without warning. They fly fast in unpredictable directions. You have to have the right camera settings before they fly . . . it is too late to change the settings after they depart. Then you have to spot them, get the aim right, focus, track the flight and not clip off a wing or other body part.
