Bees and Butterflies

A pair of silver-spotted skippers flitted around monarda (bee balm).

Joe-Pye weed attracts many bees.

A bee on a rose of Sharon bloom is doused in pollen.

A hummingbird moth (also known as a snowberry clearwing) moves quickly and unpredictably.

I was lucky to catch it still for a moment.

  1. That is an amazing amount of pollen on that bee!

  2. Bees are so beneficial for all of us. Without them we would lack fruits, nuts, flowers, and some vegetables.

  3. I noticed that you do not have any honey bees in the photos. I have noticed that they are not around West Hartford anymore. Too bad.
