When I was working in Chicago back in the 90's, a few of us went to one of these places on a lark. We got a good laugh out of it and needless to say, nothing reported was true. I remember in my session that the lady kept saying I needed to come back. When we all left, we found that everyone was told they needed to come back for more sessions.
I am reminded of the following quote from the movie Before Sunrise:
I mean, just once, I'd love to see, some little old lady save up all her money, to go to the fortune teller, and she'd get there, all excited about hearing her future, and the woman would say, "Um-humm. Tomorrow, and all your remaining days will be exactly like today. A tedious collection of hours. And you will have no new passions, and no new thoughts and no new travels, and when you die, you'll be completely forgotten.
I've never been to a psychic but some are interesting to watch on TV!
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed by the number of these places.
ReplyDeleteWell, it's a balm for anxieties, where fake news seems to promote them.
