Out of the Jurisdiction: Meteora

Today we visited two monasteries (one of which is now a nunnery) built high on a rock in Meteora, 
in the mountains outside Kalampaka.

    I wonder why so many monasteries are built on the edge of steep cliffs and sheer drop offs. Beautiful shots.
