The marshes at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary are filled with alligator flag plant,
or thalia geniculata, a broad-leafed green plant that dazzles when backlit.
They give cover to the many birds and animals that occupy the marsh.
On the first of April the photographer members of City Daily Photo will be posting
photographs to illustrate the theme, "One Color." Click here to see some.
Who says you need lots of colours? That's really spectacular.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous green.
ReplyDeleteGood choice, Jack, and a good introduction to the natural surroundings. May you have a joyful Easter or good Passover, or pleasant Sunday, which ever you celebrate!

Green as far as the eye can see!
ReplyDeleteI would just hope there were no alligators hiding behind these plants. Happy Easter, Jack.
ReplyDeleteThis is one case where I prefer the latin name. Alligators are scary!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that plant here. I love the reflections of it in the water. Great fit for the theme.
