Susie, Wessel and the girls are in Rhode Island for the Fourth, visiting a close friend and her parents.
Whenever I dogsit, I go to the undeveloped back end of Elizabeth Park. The granddogs go off leash, chase squirrels, explore the woods and run around like banshees.
With a photograph of Elizabeth Park, I began this blog seven years ago. Until my son's recent illness, I had posted every day. My enthusiasm for wandering around with a camera has been low since John died, and I had drafted a final post ending the blog. But, I am going to give it a try.
No promises, but for now the blog continues. Maybe I will get in the mood again.

So sorry for your loss Jack.
ReplyDeleteI understand how you feel Jack. It must be hard to continue with the same routines after such a loss. I will be hoping your enjoyment for this "hobby" to return. I and many other people enjoy seeing your views of your two home cities.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful area.
ReplyDeleteIt's understandable that grief would have you at a low ebb creatively, especially when it's fresh.
Things will get better, Jack. And you will find things enjoyable again.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime have fun with those crazy dogs!
Jack, I am so very sorry to hear that John passed away. I am glad to know that Susie, Wessel and your granddaughters are close by to aide you through this difficult time. My deepest condolences.
ReplyDeleteI know these are difficult times, and taking time to grieve is understandable and very necessary. I just wanted to let you know that your posts have been an inspiration to me, and I'm sure to many others as well.
ReplyDeleteYour sorrow and mailaise is understandable. I distinctly remember a line from the movie _The Accidental Tourist-that i saw years ago. I don't recall the details, but after a death, the line that has stuck with me these many years is, "Nothing seems important anymore." It makes me catch my breath when I think of it. Your heart and spirit will move together, Jack, and you eventually will find your way. Take your time.
ReplyDeleteJack, you have a good eye for images. You are under no obligation to post anything, but keep an open mind, and do not leave your camera at home.
ReplyDeleteJack, I imagine it's difficult - if not impossible - to find joy in much of anything at a time like this and I'm terribly sorry your life has been so painfully uprooted. Please give yourself permission to take time off as you need it. Your blog has been a great expression of who you are. I hope you'll keep it as a touchstone and return to it as you find a way to heal and return to yourself.
ReplyDeleteYou've many friends here and there are some wise comments. Be gentle with yourself and do what feels right to you. I hope in time you find joy again. I do love seeing your photos. xx
