That looks like a nice way to spend an afternoon, like watching petanque (about the same thing) in the Luxembourg Garden in Paris. These are very upscale compared to the old ones in our traditional Italian neighborhood.
Use to be a bar in Chicago in one of the old Italian neighborhoods where bocce ball was played. Players were always friendly and encouraged us to join in, and we usually did, but were no competition for the locals. Everyone had a good time however.
I've enjoyed watching the older men in our neighborhood play it but have never tried! Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteBocce, bowls, boules - all seem like games that some of us seniors can get passionate about. Maybe we should try it!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the game is played in England but I've never encountered it. It appears to involve the level of exertion that I might be capable of these days.
ReplyDeleteDo you have to be retired to play bocce? :) or beyond a certain age? Where's the shuffleboard court?
ReplyDeleteIt's drawn a few spectators too!
ReplyDeleteI can't recall ever seeing it played here.
ReplyDeleteI've seen it played but don't understand it. Horseshoes, now I understand those :)

ReplyDeleteA familiar view, bocce is also here very popular.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this played in years, and certainly not in the Pacific Northwest.
