A snowbird shows photos from southwest Florida (Naples) and southwest Connecticut (Ridgefield) and New England and other places he goes.
The number of names on the Memorial Wall really hit home.
Brings tears to my eyes. Beautiful memorial.
What an impressive memorial. There are a few of my classmates in that list of names.
It is an amazing number of people who died there.
Even in half scale, it's big.
I've been to the one in Washington a couple of times. It is indescribably moving but too busy to photograph well, unless you arrive at dawn. Which might be a good idea. This one, even in the lushness of Florida, has a sense of isolation.
all those names :( i've seen the one in dc...it's very moving...
Too, too many names. And we don't learn....
It's bad enough that there are 58,000 dead. It doesn't include the others who came back permanently scarred in one way or another.
