The Park Road Parade is a friendly parade in the southern part of West Hartford. It has remarkably bad luck with weather. Last year the parade was rained out. After a very dry summer,
it began to rain the day of this year's parade.
The fire and police color guards had positions of honor.
A big Tibetan Nepalese community group has marched in native costumes for the past decade.
(Jeez, I knew that but my mind and fingers were not very well connected . . .
thanks, Bob Crowe.)

A dog obedience group always marches in the parade.
As do pug owners, who march under the banner of The Corner Pug, a favorite comfort food pub.
Everyone loves a parade... wet or dry.
ReplyDeleteThe dogs are looking fine in the parade. I do feel sorry for dog made to look like a lion. He's probably embarrassed.
ReplyDeleteDoes this parade signify an event? Unusual time for one; I usually associate parades with the 4th or St. Paddy's Day. A very diverse group of marchers.
ReplyDeleteAlways interesting to see what groups march in parades. Never seen dog obedience or dog owners groups march before. Our Police always lead, and follow our parades. Military groups carry the colors at the head.
ReplyDeleteQuite an eclectic set of marchers, Jack.
ReplyDeleteA nice local parade, Jack! Too bad about the rain!
ReplyDeletePretty energetic for a gloomy day.
ReplyDeleteThe people in the fourth picture are Nepalese. The men's hats and jacket-over-tunic styles are traditional.
Haha! The dog in the last shot disguised as a lion is looking a little embarrassed about the whole deal there Jack 😊😊
ReplyDeleteHeheh, I like the lion dog! I love parades; takes me back to the Miners' galas in my home town when I was a child - lots of colour, flags, brass bands and decorated floats.
ReplyDeleteSo were the obedience dogs well behaved?
