Kids are usually OK so long as they can see mum or dad. But beaches are scary places. Perhaps an empty one is less scary than one with loads of people. I can still remember how terrifying it was to come out of the sea and not be able to find my parents among the crowds!
Not as crowded as the beaches of Florida eh.
