Seeing in art galleries is highly personal. I have read recently in several articles that most viewers spend only seconds in front of a painting. Out of curiosity, I googled this phenomena and found interesting articles on this subject on the web. Apparently some viewers are more curious about certain paintings so more time is spent in front of them. I must confess that in crowded exhibits I have a tendency to zip through it; I am trying to be more careful in seeing details on individual painting, esp since I am reading a fascinating book called Visual Intelligence which uses paintings to teach higher visual acuity. I would find this museum a delight if there were no crowds.
Kate's point that people only spend a few seconds looking at individual paintings in galleries also applies to people looking at photographs on blogs. Very few people take as much as a minute to examine an image. This is sad in that most people may miss the intent of the photographer. Your photos are wonderfully formal in their composition.
For me, photographing the visitors in an art museum is much more interesting than taking pictures of the art. The downside is that it distracts you from the art itself.
