Once January arrives, the art festivals begin. This one was on Naples' Fifth Avenue South.
Let's see some of the artists who make special kinds of jewelry and crafts.
James Floyd makes guitars from found objects and other unconventional components.
This guitar is made from the top of a Korean barbecue placed on a tambourine.
The silver decoration was originally a silverplate trivet.
Other guitars began life as cigar boxes.

Miami Beach designer Anna Saulino showed her bold and beautiful necklaces, bracelets and pins.
Much of it was assembled from large hammered gold discs and chains.
Don't you love her coordinating dress?
Linda Caristo has been a jeweler for more than 20 years. Much of her jewelry is enameled silver designs from nature, like butterflies. Her husband Carl (above) casts her designs
and now designs and casts some of his own silver jewelry.
I absolutely loved Vince Pompei's clocks! He makes them from old silver trays, plates,
spoons and serving pieces. (I liked his braided beard, too.)

such creative people...those clocks are impressive!!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots!
ReplyDeleteAnna's bold and beautiful dress is perfect for the environment in which you photographed her.
ReplyDeleteI have seen cigar box guitars but NEVER one made with a Korean barbecue on a tambourine. So creative!
ReplyDeleteOh how fab Jack. Art markets are such a fun way to spend some time! J'adore the clocks made out of old silver bits and pieces. The hard part is going home without buying too much :)
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a variety of talents. I love the clocks too! I have a good friend in my art group who has made a guitar from a cigar box. I need to send him the link to this post so he can see this guy's work.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! These are fabulous indeed, Jack!! So much creative talent!! Thanks for sharing -- I love your pics for the day, as always!! Hope you have great weekend! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteLove that first portrait, really captures the mood
ReplyDeleteThe clocks are very cool, Jack!
ReplyDeleteThe clocks are my favourite!
ReplyDeleteI like to visit these art shows but never buy anything. And I've got a nice Martin guitar, so cigar box guitars don't look too appealing. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is comparable to what we see at our two major art fairs. Sometimes I think the work on display is very high in craftsmanship and lacking in originality. That guitar maker is something else, though. I'd love to hear the instruments.
ReplyDeleteWow! What interesting stuff. The guitars look interesting...I wonder how they sound. And I want one of those clocks.
