Out of the Jurisdiction: Rouen Cathedral
Pretty easy to see why Claude Monet was led to paint this cathedral 30 times from 1892 to 1894. Here is a link to a website that shows the 30 Rouen Cathedral paintings by Monet.
I'm not sure I saw them the last time we were there but the Musee d'Orsay once had several of Monet's paintings of the cathedral grouped together. It was a wonderful set viewed in combination.
This is fantastic !!
ReplyDeleteWonder how long it took to create this masterpiece Jack, off to Google :)

ReplyDeleteIt is magnificent. I think I've seen a documentary on this place.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Jack. I see Monet stood on the other side of the Cathedral to do his paintings. Perhaps it had to do with evening light?
ReplyDeleteSo that's what "magnificent" means!!!
ReplyDeleteTruly a work of art: the cathedral, your photo, Monet's many paintings.
ReplyDeleteSomehow it reminds me of incredible intricate lace, Jack!
ReplyDeleteWow, you're getting around! This is so beautiful, isn't it?
