Graydon Parrish

Graydon Parrish's allegorical painting about the September 11, 2001, tragedies in New York City is a sober reflection about that sad day.  It is a featured work at New Britain Museum of American Art.

Last year on September 11, Parrish spoke at the NBMAA about his work, The Cycle of Terror and Tragedy: September 11, 2001. The NBMAA's website has an explanation of the work.

  1. It is a very sad anniversary. The painting is very strong and vivid; painful, also.

  2. I like the painting, but I usually suspicious of art that needs an explanation...

  5. To this day, I still can't believe what I witnessed on TV ever happening.

  6. What an amazing painting. I can understand the meaning in some of it just from studying it but the explanation fills that out. I guess most paintings don't need explanation but a truly allegorical painting is a rare art form these days. Like LOL, I still barely believe what I saw with my own eyes that day. But the world goes on and we have not learned.
