I have been observing a flock (currently seven) of domesticated guinea fowl that share the farm
with Susie, Wessel and Willa. (And the dogs and the sheep and . . . you get the idea.)
The guinea fowl scuttle around in a pack and show up
near the chicken coop when it is dinner time.
There were numerous questions about the masks on yesterday's horses. Yes, they are to keep flies away. When it gets cold, they also wear blankets and leggings. These are coddled horses.

They look like a happy bunch!

I repeat, Jack, you are having way too much fun this spring. Your daughter and her family have a wonderful home in a very interesting country. Wonderful that you can visit often!
ReplyDeletethey are cute! our neighbors had a few and they'd come over to visit!
ReplyDeleteThe dogs don't seem to be bothered by the guinea fowl at all.
ReplyDeleteNo masks on the fowl, Jack!
ReplyDeleteA funny bunch...
ReplyDeleteThere must be a good collective noun for guinea fowl. They look quite comical.
ReplyDeleteI see the dogs are well behaved where the birds are concerned.
ReplyDeleteWe have some of these hens done the road. Kind of a nuisance, always running about the road.
ReplyDeleteLooks like they spotted you.
ReplyDeleteGuinea fowl are not particularly glamorous critters but they have amazing speckled feathers.
ReplyDelete(And I still contend that the horse masks are a celebrity sunglass substitute.)
I've never seen guinea fowl. They're quite large birds! Sounds like your daughter has quite the zoo over there! :)
