Crucifixion

This is a detail from a bas relief bronze sculpture with gold and silver highlights by Donatello,
from around 1455 A.D.  It is in the Uffizi in Florence, the museum built around
the art collections of the Medici family.

  2. Magnificient. I haven't been to a Good Friday service in years; perhaps I'll duck in for a few minutes today. As I undersand it, experts claim that prayer is good for the body and soul! Wasn't the collection in the Uffizi something else again? LOVE that city.

  5. Beautiful, Jack! I saw a church congregation carrying a crucifix through the streets this morning - a solemn day for Christians.

  7. Mmmm. A year ago I spent a while watching this. Most people swarmed around the Botticelli so most of the other works were available.
