Oscar is five. A year ago his father set up a chess board and Oscar asked how to play.
He learned the game in an hour.
He learned the game in an hour.
Oscar went into Starbucks with his family and stood behind the regulars.
They asked him if he wanted to play. Soon he was at the table,
concentrating on a chess match.
This is brilliant. Learned playing Chess at the age of 4, can't believe it. Convey my wishes to him.

Maybe Oscar's dad should have taught me. I hope he won!
ReplyDeleteI hate kids who are smarter than I am! :) Seriously, that's pretty amazing. I play lots of games but never learned chess and I'm too old to do it now! You got a great look on Oscar's face!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great and fun shot!

Good move by his dad. I never learned to play chess.
ReplyDeleteNever to young to learn the moves :) lovely moment captured here.
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteLove the look on Oscar's face as if he's staring his opponent down, daring him to make a wrong move.
ReplyDelete... and I bet he won !
ReplyDeleteWhat a terrific capture!! I, too, love the look on Oscar's face!! Priceless!! Hope you're ready for a "picture-taking" week, Jack!!
ReplyDeleteA future champ?
ReplyDeleteA prodigy in the making!
ReplyDeleteHe looks very engaged!
ReplyDeleteGreat picture. I never did learn chess, tried once or twice but I couldn't remember the moves.
ReplyDeleteGood shot of this little guy, Jack!
ReplyDeleteThat is impressive. I like his expression.
ReplyDeleteGood for Oscar! He looks like he not only has the game he's also got the fearsome look of a competitor.
ReplyDeleteWe recently saw "The Life of a King" with Cuba Gooding playing an ex-con who teaches chess to inner city kids. Gooding puts in a nice performance.
Go Oscar go!
ReplyDeleteHe even has a game face. Smart kid.
ReplyDeleteBravo Oscar. I'm amazed at how my grandson and others so young learn chess. I captured an 8 year old playing a young man at Luxembourg Gardens last year. Her dad was a chess coach. He was quite proud.
ReplyDeleteWonderful slice of life portrait Jack.
