Madison

Madison cuts hair in the barbershop that I frequent in downtown Hartford.
I had to sweet talk her into letting me take a photograph,
but I think she likes the one I chose.
(That is James Dean behind her.)

In person I was guessing that Madison would best be rendered in black and white,
but I like the color version better.  What do you think?

This post is linked to Weekend Reflections.

The theme for City Daily Photo bloggers on June 1 is "Zest."

  1. I also prefer the color version. Nice use of the mirror. It's llike getting two portraits for the price of one. I can understand why you frequent that barbershop!

  2. Either way, she's a beauty, but I think you're right about the color version. Is the word, "frequent," in your commentary hyperbole? Heh, heh!

  3. I like the color version better too. This pretty young lady has the same name as my darling granddaughter, who just happens to turn 6 years old today!

  6. She is a beauty! I like the color version best, too!! Guess it's not necessary for me to tell you to have a fun weekend, Jack -- you don't seem to have any difficulty having those!! Or a fun week as well!! And that's even better!!

  8. Sorry, I live in a world of colors and, with rare exceptions, I have no use for B&W...

  9. I like the colour composition....however both are great... Lovely reflection in mirror...

  10. Both are good and she is certainly a lovely looking girl. I like the B&w one as it is more cropped and does not have much of the painting on the left in the second one. For me that is distracting in the first one. In the second one, you eye is totally focused on the girl.

  17. Allow me a sec to get up on this soapbox Jack. Now....I'm ready. I vote for the monochromatic portrait as I most frequently do. Why? Because the green chair and the colorful artwork in the background are a distraction from Madison's lovely smile. We can't have that now can we???

  19. Even though Madison looks gorgeous in both I'm definitely going with the b&w for this portrait shot Jack!
