Naples Beach with Naples Pier on the horizon.
Even small waves are pretty fearsome at this age.
Laura is a Canadian who spends the winter in Naples. She was a
Shakespearean scholar until she found she liked working on government policy better
than academia. Her apartment is an easy walk to the beach.
When have you not seen a sea gull at the beach?
I always try to help my human subjects look their best on this blog.
But, I could not pass up this anonymous -- and very red -- sleeping man. (I'm sorry.)
Lost. And not yet found.
Ha. poor guy. He will feel that sunburn later. Nice portrait of Laura.
ReplyDeleteLots of folks teasing cancer on that beach. And how do you know how far away that young lady's apartment is? Hmmmm?
ReplyDeleteWe've been at that beach many times and I've got lots of photos of that pier and from that pier.
Nice series, Jack.
Re the saddle: Couldn't you use it to sit on while your caddie is looking for your golf ball?
I can't imagine why any Canadian would enjoy working on government policy. Personally, I'd question her motives. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Jack. Wish I was there.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the color of the skin on that main sleeping is painful. I wear a water shirt when I go swimming.
ReplyDeleteI think there may be a few Canadians visiting your blog who are going to be very jealous of Laura sitting in the sunshine and looking so happy.
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to wake that guy up before he gets badly burned (if it's not too late).
My goodness, Jack, you really suffer for your art.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that pier brings beautiful sunsets to mind, Jack!
ReplyDeletePHoto of the child is the best!
ReplyDeleteThis post made me happy after midnight Jack.. was just imagining your sleeping man waking up to find the camera there :)hope he's got lots of sunscreen on.. we Aussies are obsessed with slip, slop, slap :)
ReplyDeletep.s. there are certain words I get nervous with also.. like whenever I show the green blob sculpture.. the organism, phew! it's been a worry on occasions haha!
You do know how to make my day and start it with giggles and snorts!! Great examples today! Think there was any chance of the seagull lighting on that mans open mouth??? That little guy is a cutie!! Fun post for the day! Hope your week is going well, Jack!! Enjoy! As you always do!!
ReplyDeleteA very good reason not to fall asleep on the beach. Expect a lawsuit. Just sayin'!
ReplyDeleteV
Sleeping under the sun? That's not very good...
ReplyDeleteThe beach can be a fun place for portraits, it seems. I wouldn't sleep without a sun umbrella though!
ReplyDeleteI try to never fall asleep at the beach. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I am ever so slightly envious of a beach in February.
P.S.: so, umm, where are your own personal nymphs? :-)
ReplyDeleteI like your way to see a day on the beach! Many kinds of people and situations, and some fun all around!
ReplyDeletePoor guy, he will be roasted before the end of the day!
PS: about the song, the girl with red jacket could have been me.. 30years ago ! :o)
Happy Lincoln's birthday!
ReplyDeleteThank you for a fine slice of sunny beach life. I can almost smell hot dogs roasting...or is it the skin of the Toasted Man?
You're on a nice warm beach enjoying the sun and surf. We're expecting snow, ice and rain starting early tomorrow morning and lasting all day Thursday. See what you're missing? :)
ReplyDeleteA beautiful day to be at the beach and simply tank some sun.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm depressed.
It's a very long way to April and my walking on a Florida beach.
Are you sure that fellow was just sleeping and not... recently departed from the confines of this life?
ReplyDeleteToo cold and rainy up here in north Florida for any of that activity on our beaches! I guess Lowell and I think alike when it comes to sunbathing and skin cancer because that's the first thing I thought of too.
ReplyDeleteVery nice portraits and beach scenes. I feel bad for the old guy catching flies, but I guess everyone is fair game on the beach.
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of the ocean but your shots make me want to visit.
ReplyDeleteA great collection, Jack!
