Yesterday's post was "photo of the year."
Here are some other 2013 photos that I almost picked.
I loved this photo, and it got more comments than any other, but I didn't pick it for "photo of the year" because nature created it, not me. The sunset was spectacular. I just happened to be in a good location with my camera, tripod and shutter release.
This was my favorite fall foliage photo. I liked the sun flare. Viewers didn't say much about it.
This was a very popular photograph, but it was taken somewhere in the Carolinas while I was driving between Hartford and Naples for the season. I thought the "photo of the year" for a blog like this should be in Florida or Connecticut, not an "out of the jurisdiction" photo.
This recent "out of the jurisdiction" South Africa photo amazed me. I couldn't believe that I managed to line up the transmission towers so perfectly while speeding on a highway and shooting out of the passenger window.
And this is my personal favorite for 2013. Like the last two, it is an "out of the jurisdiction" photograph. I thought the stonework in the floor of St. Mark's Basilica in Venice was dazzling, and I liked the subtle way that other visitors were present through their shadows.
Jack I admire every photo you posted today. Well done!
ReplyDeleteSome really nice photos here. My favorite is the one from South Africa.
ReplyDeleteJack, these are really great as well. Love the floor at St. Mark's Basilica.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to chose when there are so many good photos. My favorite is the photo of the marshes!
ReplyDeleteLoved the "out of the jurisdiction" photo. Your photo of the year was super cute and speaks volumes of our consumerism. The look, the look, the look. Twins on twins.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year. Here's to another great year of photoblogging.
Janis & David
I like the first one the best.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy new year from my country, the Philippines, to yours. :)
ReplyDeleteYou had a tough choice. I love that top photo but the Carolina waterway is a fantastic shot too. Great shots, all.
ReplyDeleteA great series of shots, Jack. Anyone of them would qualify for "photo of the year"!
ReplyDeleteyou sure had a tough job picking one! they are all super!!
ReplyDeleteI love them all, Jack, and would have problems picking a favorite, but that first one is awesome indeed and the last one is amazing!! Looks as though your new year is off to a good start!! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteAll winners in my book!
ReplyDeleteAll grand photos but I'm going with the towers in So Africa. Masterful drive by shot Jack.

A poker of wonderful images: I really like your 'second choice'!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Birdman on this one, Jack! They are all winners and you should be proud!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely had quite a few great photos to chose from, Jack!
ReplyDeleteYes, they're all winners too. You snapped some beautiful moments in 2013, Jack. Don't give nature all the credit on your first shot. The world is full of beautiful moments like that one but we can't share them unless a photographer "just happened" to be in the right place at the right time. And lucky us when he or she is.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great eye, Jack. I really like the perspective in the Carolina's shot.
ReplyDeleteLove that first one. That would be my favorite if there were a color catagory.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you had a hard time choosing. They are really good.
ReplyDeleteI still love that sunset!
ReplyDeleteI really like the transmission towers out of that handful. But yesterday's photo was surely the best!
ReplyDeleteYou did well to show us your runner ups, they're a joy to look at.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are the swamp in the Carolinas with the spectacular sky reflection and the perfect alignment of power lines. Kudos for both!
All excellent shots Jack but I have to say your South Africa image is seriously fantastic, well done on capturing a shot like that while in a moving vehicle!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice, Jack!
ReplyDeleteI agree, these images are SUPERB!
ReplyDeleteAll of them are spectacular images, Jack.
ReplyDeleteA superb sample of suberb photos! What a great year you've had in travelling and photography.
