When I come across a photographer taking engagement or wedding photographs,
I sometimes raise my camera and take a few of my own.
The brides always look so happy and so pretty.
Is that creepy? Am I the only one who does it?

I personally don't like to take photos of people I don't know without their permission. I wouldn't like it if someone did that to me as I feel it's an invasion of privacy (especially if they were posting on the internet without my knowledge).
ReplyDeleteBut you did capture this bride beautifully. I hope you got her contact info so you can send her these photos!
No, I've done it too. This bride is especially beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful bride!
ReplyDeleteI've occasionally thought of it, but perhaps aside from at a distance, I might not feel comfortable taking the shot. I did see a couple of wedding parties in a park here on the weekend having their photos done.
I haven't done it either - like Halcyon I am always a bit hesitant to take pics of people. These are great shots though.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit, I don't know anyone who has done it. Except my father once. He was visiting Shanghai, and saw a wedding and started snapping away. We now have 10+ photos from some strangers wedding in our albums! :D

I'll do it every time I can. I do not use the images, but I have a quite funny collection of weddings around Europe...
ReplyDeleteTee hee. It may be creepy BUT I like to do it too. ;))
ReplyDeleteI try not to get people's faces in my photos if I can help it unless I've asked them first. But, it would be a great way to learn what makes a great photo from someone who is doing it for a living. I love the backdrop of that door with her white dress.
ReplyDeleteI have done it a few times. Always email my photos to the couples, so it's a win-win situation.
ReplyDeleteSo far, just once. A wedding couple posing in the middle of a garden at the Tulip Festival, a huge public event. I figured if they chose to be in a public garden that they made it a public event. I don't photograph people often but will usually get permission to post, particularly if it's children and especially if their faces show.
ReplyDeleteNo, not at at all. I've done it plenty of times. Spread the joy.
ReplyDeleteShe is absolutely beautiful. I don't blame you for taking the shot. I don't think I could.
ReplyDeleteYou are not creepy... but if anyone else says they do it, they are lying. (:-0)
ReplyDeleteAn unforgettable moment in her life for sure and your picture is great! She is adorable!
ReplyDeleteLéia
I also do it, but I don't publish them...
ReplyDeleteThese photos are wonderful Jack!
not at all creepy!! i always get excited when i see wedding shoots and always take some pictures myself. i think its funny (i like to actually capture the less perfect things the wedding photographer certainly wont picture).
ReplyDeletewhereas i sometimes do not dare to picture perfect strangers, i think weddings are fine. if they didnt want to be photographed by others, they shouldnt have their shoot out in public!!
I get the impression that this lovely young lady was more than happy to smile for you Jack.. I have done before also, but usually in a more 'sneaky' way :))))
