Vintage Baseball

On Saturdays in the summer, a small group of vintage baseball aficionados gathers at a field in Colt Park in Hartford.  They play a couple of games, one with rules from 1862 and another with rules from 1865.

  1. A nice vintage treatment of these vintage people playing vintage baseball.

That makes me wonder if the original name of The Village People was meant to be The Vintage People?

    Well, you never know!

I wonder what difference there was between the rules of 1862 and 1865? I should remember, but it's been so long ago!

Maybe you could cop one of those caps for your golf outings?

  2. I always forget about the versatility and attractiveness of B& W. Perfect for this photo. Yes, I think you'd look fetching in one of those hats.

  5. Great choice to use B & W for this subject. Changes in the rules of baseball in 1862 - 65? Didn't they have enough on their minds with the Civil War?

And they did not come up with the idea of designated hitter for more than 100 more years.

  11. I agree with everyone - the B & W is perfect for this shot! I'm going to have to check out the old BB rules.

  12. That's a new one for me. I've seen groups recreating all manner of historic things, but not sports. And 1862 vs. 1865 rules sounds pretty esoteric!

Nice action shot and the b&w is effective/
