Taste of Hartford

It is restaurant week again.  Many of the good restaurants in Hartford are offering special menus at attractive prices to encourage diners to visit when lots of regular customers are vacationing out of town.

This is Firebox, a popular restaurant at Billings Forge in the Frog Hollow section of Hartford.  In some surveys, Firebox is the top-ranked restaurant in the city.  It emphasizes locally raised foods.

These photos were taken with my little point-and-shoot Canon.  I didn't want to lug the big guy into the restaurant and I didn't know how they felt about photography.

  1. Ohhh, Firebox. Sounds like they fire up the grill! Glad they emphasize locally grown foods, and I know what you mean about lugging in the big camera! I often do the same thing, pull out the baby Nikon from my purse, especially if I'm taking a photo of their food.

  3. We love to check out 'restaurant week' up here too. We always find our selves in places we've never entered. Mostly with fine results. Our latest venture was into 555 here on Congress Street.

  5. I like the name of the resto and the interior looks chic, without being too "fancy". Hope the food was good too! :)

  6. Nothing wrong with a Canon p&s...I've got two and use them often. And these photos prove my point.

"Taste of..." seem to be popular events, but here the restaurants put up booths in some special place...

Speaking of places I think I like the Firebox, and esp. the fact it uses local foodstuffs.

    Have a great week!

  7. There is a restaurant week in Scottsdale, also. It is important to support locally owned restaurants. It is a tough business in which to succeed.

  11. Looks like a great place to eat! Hope you had a delicious meal! And Lowell is right, nothing wrong with the point-and-shoot Canon! That's what I use, too! Hope your week is off to a good start, Jack! Enjoy -- with camera in hand -- Canon or otherwise!!
