Silas W. Robbins House

This impeccably painted and maintained inn is on the Green in Wethersfield.  The Trip Advisor comments about the inn are full of superlatives.  28 of 29 ratings are "excellent."  The other is "very good."  The complaint from the one dissenter?  They showed up for breakfast at 10 a.m. and it was over.

A link to the inn's website is here.

Sue left an interesting comment yesterday about the inn and its renovation.

  5. When I make it to Hartford Jack, I'm definitely booking in here for a couple of nights it looks rather splendid indeed! I like the detail of the 'statue' from the previous post!!

  7. Such a gorgeous place and yes, like the others, I would love to stay there! Sues comment is interesting and I know there are people who wouldn't want a "business" as a neighbor, but not many of those "businesses" look like this and I'm sure their "customers" don't behave like the usual ones! I'm just amazed at the incredible renovation! Great captures, Jack, as always!

  10. Reminds me of those old doll houses that I would see kids playing with.

  11. I guess this is what someone might call "High Victorian."

  13. It hardly looks real, like something from a movie. It must be lovely to stay there.

  15. I'm glad they figured out a way to make it pay for itself. I can't imagine the upkeep.

  16. That's a remarkable piece of Victorian gingerbread. It could have contained lives of great elegance or, perhaps, ghosts.

  17. Such a beautiful home! Having stayed at a few b&b's this year, I'd have to also complain that breakfast is often served too early. I like to sleep in on vacation.

  18. Silas W. Robbins didn't make his money by staying in bed till 10 o'clock! What a superb piece of architecture.

  22. Terrific building. The mansard roof, the porch and the decorative trim around the windows are really quite exquisite. The guest housen (or the garage?) on the right is beautifully coordinated.

  24. What a lovely B & B! Beautifully done and I imagine it's wonderful inside, too.

It's nice to sleep in on a vacation, but if that's the priority maybe a B & B isn't a perfect choice. Breakfast is worth rising for at every one I've visited.
