This is the atrium for a gallery next to Theater Works. An art gallery . . . a sinewy curving sculpture-bench . . . posters for past Theater Works productions . . . and the armed services recruiting offices!
P.J. works in the building and demonstrates that the bench is intended for sitting.
In yesterday's comments, VP and Lynette filled in the blanks by identifying the art that I didn't. You are both amazing!
That is a very unusual bench. It makes me think of a dinosaur skeleton.
ReplyDeleteA very interesting bench. I thought the 'soldier' looked a little out of place in the first shot. Glad you explained. I thought maybe he was part ofthe art.
ReplyDeleteVery artistic bench. I guess the arts and armed forces do mix. Armed Services Recruiting Station in downtown Phoenix shares the same building as the Phoenix Symphony.
ReplyDeleteThe poster in the background is for the play "The Exonerated." That is a penetrating, thought-provoking play. All Texans, especially, should see it.
Being a benches collector, I find this one very unic and unusual!I'm with Sharon about the idea of a skeletton.Very strange to see a soldier in such a place..
ReplyDeleteMy reaction is the same as Sharon's. Looks like a dinosaur
ReplyDeleteI, too, think the bench looks like a dinosaur! Be careful where you sit! Great shot of a lovely young lady! Another great tour, Jack! Hope your week is off to a good start! Enjoy!

So many contrasting subjects on the top shot. Great composition. The bench is just amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm always enchanted by benches, this one has so different concept!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this awesome post!
Léia
I love the bench. By the way, art gallery and armed officer make interesting combination:)
ReplyDeleteI like P.J. much more than the art-bench...
ReplyDeleteI'm with Sharon - looks like dinosaur bones!
ReplyDeleteThat army bloke makes the photo! He's so incredibly out of place somehow. Rather like the French army surveillance everywhere in Paris since 9/11...
ReplyDeleteLol@ VP... Wonder if this rather extraordinary bench will be appearing on ABoB...
Very clever artistic design - but would it be comfortable to sit on ??
ReplyDeleteI love that art-decor light shade in the top pic Jack - I want one just like that!
It was the soldier I noticed! I wondered if I hadn't caught up on the news yet... army take-over Hartford.
ReplyDeleteOK, first the bench. I think PJ is getting eaten alive by the JAWS!!!! Next, I love the composition with the soldier peering in the gallery. Bravo for both J.
ReplyDeleteV
That would totally match my decor.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking bench.
ReplyDeleteThe military recruiters are actually next to the theater's art gallery? Or is that another piece of strange art?
ReplyDeleteBest Use of Variety in a Daily Photo!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sharon and VP ;))
ReplyDeleteInteresting and beautiful shots Jack!
I thought that bench was some kind of sculpture...hmmm...I guess it is - a sculpture of a bench. You were fortunate to have it filled up so very nicely by one PJ.
ReplyDeleteGood to catch up with your recent posts. Your photos are all just fabulous, I like your miscellaneous day.
