The Pond House in Elizabeth Park houses a small restaurant and an exhibition hall. Even though a pond is right outside the rear patio, that does not explain the name. Elizabeth Park is on land donated to the City of Hartford by Charles and Elizabeth Pond.
Looks inviting. Like the varied coloured trimn on the building..orange, purple, and green actually work very well together. Yes, it would seem that one would expect a pond, but the actual meaning is a pleasant surprise.
ReplyDeleteWonderful example of these philanthropist, they provide their name and nature.
ReplyDeleteThanks for explaining! Looks like a nice place for a snack. :) Love those windows.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a place I'd enjoy visiting.
ReplyDeleteIt does look inviting and colorful! I, too, would enjoy checking it out! And who knows why people name things and places they way they do???? But as long as the food is good, they can name it what they like! Hope your week has gone well so far, Jack!

I think it's fair enough if you donate the land only seems right to claim the name...I'd like to see a patisserie named Grace Place, mainly because it rhymes and it would have pastries haha!
ReplyDeleteNice play on words! Not surprising to see such a lush display of plants in that great park.
ReplyDeleteThink I could do without the purple.
