Four Strong Winds That Blow Lonely, Seven Seas That Run High . . .

Renee bought a banjo yesterday.  She and Michelle found a bench and Renee played folk songs.  Michelle sang harmony.  I wandered past.

  1. Wonderful spirit here, I would have loved to be there. I love your portraits, the 'under the umbrella' one of a few days ago was brilliant too!

I rarely do portraits and wish I did more. It's easier to do big cats !

  2. Interesting how simple pleasures make the day seem so much brighter. Great candid, Jack.

  3. You wandered past but hesitated for a moment and caught a spontaneous burst of song. They look happy, you did a good job Jack and captured a moment in time! Oh hark at me getting all 'poetic' haha!

  4. Nice slice of life capture. I would have been forced to inquire, 'What prompts someone to purchase a banjo on a Monday, plop down on a street bench and croon?'

  5. One sees a lot more street musicians with guitars rather than banjos.

I once lived in a townhouse in Arlington, VA, with a next door neighbor who decided to learn how to play the banjo. Pluck. Pluck. Pluck.

  6. Well, with you at the drums, you've already got a band!

  9. You got the story, took their names, and captured the scene... Jack, I think that you have morphed into a candid portrait photographer! Wonderful!

  11. You was lucky to wander about there at the right moment, but your picture caught the moment perfectly. Excellent portrait and street scene!

  13. I love it-- what a wonderful portrait! I am often too shy to take pictures of people, but I'm glad you aren't!

  17. What a great moment you captured. A banjo....not your everyday instrument.

  18. Oh, you're making me think of Ian and Sylvia, thereby dating myself. Looks like Renee knows what she's doing.

  19. My grandmother played a mandolin-banjo - no better way to spread a little cheer!

  20. Nice timing from everyone here. Buying the banjo, finding that bench, and then you arrive to capture the scene.
