I live on the west side of the Connecticut River. Glastonbury is a pretty and historic town on the east side, maybe 20 minutes from where I live.
In Hartford, people stay on their own side of the river. I'll bet my kids have spent more time in (the state of) Wyoming than in Glastonbury.
Weird.
This is indeed a very stately looking manor.
ReplyDeleteThe state of Wyoming? Or is there a town on the other side of the river? A fine composed shot today.
ReplyDeleteGreat use of the flowers in the foreground to draw you into the shot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful , Jack. I love the flowers in the foreground as well.
ReplyDeleteReally a fine looking building.
ReplyDeleteI agree, nice use of foreground to add interest. I must remember to show this to my photography students!
ReplyDeleteSo is the rive gauche/droit thing in Hartford?

That is strange??? Beautiful old house and gorgeous flowers! Love your composition, Jack, as always! Hope you enjoy a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteSylvia
Composition with the flowers in the foreground enhances the overall image of your post today. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThe house is lovely but the plant arrangement really caught my eye.
ReplyDeletelove the house, nice shot!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking house Jack. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... you have changed your layout. Not sure what I think about the font, but I like the colors. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely house. And I like the bunch of flowers in front too. Makes me wonder if there is a pad transformer hiding behind them. ;)
Looks like a nice area East of the river. Love the planting in front of the home.
ReplyDeleteNeeds a little more curb appeal if you ask me or just a touch more color.
ReplyDeleteThis house looks like it might have some history to it.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you... trespassed!
ReplyDeleteOne day you will have to go all the way to Glastonbury Tor.
ReplyDeleteThe houses there are different though. Not that there are many.
This is a lovely home.
Beautifully composed Jack, gorgeous image. I think that happens a lot, there is a definite North and South of the river here in Perth too. We're on the North near the coast and South is close to the hills, it always feels like another world when we have reason to go South, I just can't even imagine not living near the beach, you're right, it is kin d of weird!
ReplyDelete'Tis a beauty of an historic house and historic flowers and historic paving...
ReplyDeleteWhy, do you suppose, the river is such a divide?
Very crip lines and looks of fresh paint.
ReplyDeleteAt least your kids did not have to cross the river to get to BDL for their hop to Wyoming!
Bises,
Genie
The house itself looks rather stark - glad they put in the jolt of colourful flowers!
ReplyDeleteSo it's TRUE that the Connecticut River really is a psychological divide!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful, historic home! Yes, I could live there very nicely, too!
ReplyDeleteLove, love the colorful flower pot!
Yellowstone Ntl Park and Montana vacation regards
I love the look of the house - perfectly symmetrical!
