Hurricane Irene sent an advance party to Connecticut yesterday afternoon, in the form of steady rains. Even in a rainfall, a wide blanket of colorful impatiens at this Avon home "popped." To the left of the house, there was an additional acre of impatiens.
I like impatiens, but they might think about some other flowers . . .
ah, jack, don't be 'impatien' with them.
ReplyDeletestarted raining here about 7 last night. it's a strange wet morning in vermont.
Brattcat got in before me haha! they are gorgeous though, we wouldn't be able to have them in an uncovered spot like that, would be too hot. I have been checking the news often since I got back from the walk Jack, got a shock when I saw Hartford on the map right in the line of fire, I so hope all will be well.
ReplyDeleteI would be very 'patient' walking through the gardens, even in the rain.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you: though gorgeous, I like a garden to be a mix of flowers!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful, old house! Yep, I could manage to live there, too! Love all the bright flower colors!
ReplyDeleteHow goes the weather battle?!
Sometimes a grey day can make colours look very saturated - not sure why.. It's certainly a beautiful scene. I am hoping it still looks like that today. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that the storm is not as bad as has been forecast. Stay safe. Hope you don't lose power for too long either.
ReplyDeleteAnd what about those gorgeous window boxes??? What kind of plants are those?
ReplyDeleteV
Well, they certainly are very striking. It would be nice to mix it up a little, I agree.
ReplyDeleteI have no green thumb at all so if I could grow impatiens I might over do it too! This is just so pretty!
ReplyDeleteso many beautiful flowers...
ReplyDeleteLooking out the window at a scene like that should help people stay inside until the storm passes. Glad that it seems the storm is not a bad as predicted.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend in Washington DC who was able to sit at home and watch how his sail boat was doing in the Chesapeake by watching the webcam of his marina.
Lovely flowers, beautiful house! Love the colors and what a terrific capture for the day, Jack. I am glad things weren't too bad storm wise in your area! Enjoy your day!

That really is lovely. I hope you are well.
ReplyDeleteThe scene seems so beautyful and quiet, the colorful flowers, the elegant house, and its decorated windows.. hard to imagine how all that will be after Irene..I cross my fingers and think of you!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! What a great shot.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know Irene is now a tropical storm. Even so, hope there's not much damage in your area.
I'll resist the temptation to comment on your patience, Jack! That bed of flowers to me is very appealing. Beautiful colors, and I love the hanging baskets under the windows.
ReplyDeleteI always try to think of some other flower for the shady spots but nothing gives colour like the impatiens!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are dry and safe.

The Hurricane

The tree lay down
on the garage roof
and stretched, You
have your heaven,
it said, go to it.
When I moved to CT I thought Impatiens were the state flower. They can be overdone just like azalea gardens in the spring. Hope you made it through Irene.
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning. I like the stars in each window and also around what looks to be the door.
ReplyDeleteGlad everything is well your way.
This is just dreamy and those windowboxes are fabulous! I am impatien to see more of this home.
ReplyDeleteBises,
Genie
Speechless...beautiful flowers! a lovely garden!
ReplyDeleteThe coloours of these annuals are brilliant in any light. They looks especially lush in this garden,
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful! I hope you are well after Irene.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS!!!! Lovely garden, smashing house:)
ReplyDeleteHope you're all well!
Yeah gorgeous house, with beautiful flowers... love those window baskets too.
ReplyDeleteI don't think they should consider anything else. Those impatiens are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteImpatiens are so pretty, yet hardy....they're really the perfect flower. I swore by 'em when I lived up north. (Alas, my impatiens did not compare in number to those in your pic.)
ReplyDeleteHahaha...you're hilarious. I rather like them...those impatient flowers!!!! (Do you have any?;D)
