I know grass artists are very proud of their lines. The head mower at Fenway Park holds seminars on this, as well as making pictures, words, and logos in lawns. Great shots!
I bet this is not as 'straightforward' (haha!) as it looks!! The sky is gorgeous in that top shot Jack, the turret has a slightly medieval look to it. Hartford has a lot of very old and beautiful buildings methinks.
Both buildings and their vast lawns are perfect places to practice this "art." The towers on each of them are also quite unique. The architecture seems very classic in design also.
The buildings are great but the lawns are fabulous! The grass art is always one of the neat things about watching a baseball game in a stadium with natural turf.
Yes, it's a cool effect on grass and the diffrent curves on the top shot make for a great photo, not to mention the fantastic building in the background.
Like everyone else I'm drawn into the photos because of the lawns. In St. Louis at the new Busch Stadium they mow the arch in the outfield to replicate the Arch that you can see peaking out over the top of the stadium in the outfield.
A pair of majestic buildings and photographs! Gotta give the grass cutters credit...of course, that is an incredibly boring job (so far as I'm concerned) that they probably dreamed up such patterns in order to avoid going a wee bit crazy!
These pictures are lovely, the seminary looks so peaceful. Happened to stumble upon your blog and its lovely. Do visit mine at http://karenxavsphotography.blogspot.com/ Karen Xavier.

ReplyDeleteYes, I am truly amazed. They've taken lawn mowing to an art form.
ReplyDeleteI always like to see these designs on lawns. However, I don't think I would have the patience to do this on my own.
ReplyDeleteVery nice captures. I really like the lines in the first shot with the blue skies and puffy white clouds.
ReplyDeleteBoth are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, Jack:)
Golf courses are often mowed like this too, but I've never managed to get such a good shot of it! Love this. :D
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures Jack!
ReplyDeleteFab panoramas, Jack. Love the grass art! I've got public art on my blog today--we're on the same wavelength, thousands of miles apart. Pretty neat.
ReplyDeleteTwo grand, stately buildings! I hope the lawn mowing crew wear hats and sunscreen while doing those lawns!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully cut! I love those lines.
ReplyDeleteGrass artist, I like the term and it seems really appropriate for these pictures.
ReplyDeleteThese are velvet carpets made to magnify the wonderful buildings!
ReplyDeleteSoon we'll see Grass circles! They have some proud gardeners.
ReplyDeleteI do love your grass art! Delightful captures and such beautiful skies!! Hope your weekend is off to a great start, Jack! Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteWell those stately building are worthy of great art lawns.

ReplyDeleteI used to mow my grass and was intent on getting the lines straight. I am sure that comes as no surprise...
ReplyDeleteNow, I have a nice yardman, very reasonably priced.

ReplyDeleteThese lawns are too good to be true! And splendid views, too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of a resplendent place.
ReplyDeleteI get it . I so get it. I had a big big yard for a long time and cutting the grass every week was taxing but gratifying as well.

ReplyDeleteKaren Xavier.
Ha! I love the paths created in fresh-mowed lawns.
ReplyDeleteWow! That first photo is awesome! Aren't we lucky to live in such glorious places?!
ReplyDeleteThat first shot is one of the best shots I've seen on here in a long time.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful building.
ReplyDeleteYou sure live in a gorgeous part of the country. Lovely photos, lovely buildings, interesting grass "art".
