West Hartford Town Hall

West Hartford Town Hall is down the street from First Church and the town library.  (I skipped over some restaurants and stores, but I will get to them eventually.) 

This red sculpture in front of West Hartford Town Hall is an untitled work by Charles O. Perry, placed on the grounds in 2008.  In doing research to learn who made this piece, I learned that Mr. Perry died just two weeks ago at the age of 81.

Yesterday it rained and sleeted, after more snow a few days ago.  There is still plenty of snow on the ground, although it is getting dirty.  This is from the archives, when the snow was cleaner and prettier.

    Love that sculpture! Here it SNOWED! We got 10 more inches. Ugh!

    Sculptures like that certainly brighten the landscape, esp this brightly coloured one. Can't help but notice the juxtaposition of the modern piece next to a very classic architectural building.

    The splash of red modern art is so unexpected -- yet, I think it works. One of the public art pieces in front of SRQ City Hall is entitled 'No one's listening' -- haha. Hope your management grants you leave from the sleet and snow for a spring training game.

    'Tis a beautiful town hall! The snow looks nice and I'm glad you have it up thar in Connecticut...the red sculpture? Well, I'd guess that's one of the hoops citizens have to go through to get anything done at city hall, if'n Hartford's like most places.

    Yep, I go to the doctor every year or so. Sometimes more often ... at my age the doctors are amazed I'm still walking around so they are studying me carefully. I tell them I stay young by playing golf.

    I like this beautyful serie of buildings made of red bricks with white lines;They are so elegant!But I don't like so much the red "piece of art" ; I 'd like it to be somewhere else, where it would not destroy the classical perspective of the buildings behind.

    The red reminds me of a life preserver. Red shows up so nicely this time of year so maybe it's helping to preserve some sanity. :)

    I still think that a sculpture must be 'sculpted', but this is nice and looks perfect in your photo.
