The Loomis Chaffee visual arts programs -- drawing, painting, sculpture and photography -- have facilities that would be the envy of many colleges. Above is part of the Richmond Art Center, which houses arts instruction as well as the Mercy Gallery, which provides exhibition and gallery space.
Looks like a place I'd like to visit, that is after that big pile of snow is gone.
ReplyDeleteI would so love to visit this place! My only resolution this year is weekly to visit places and sites that have fine arts to recommend it. Natural phenomena qualifies also. So far so good! I did this one year in the past and I was a better person for it. Left me very contented and stimulated by all the talent that surrounds us in the world.
ReplyDeletePS. In response to your comment on my blog re. the 9-month-old walker: I didn't ask him Mother, but I'm assuming that it is to protect his head. Because he is so young, his gait is still pretty unsteady, and he falls often as he's walking around.
So many arts programs are being cut from the schools, I am glad to know that this school will be a source of budding artists of the future. I have bought art from students (college) and have been rewarded with an investment in their future along with my enjoyment of the piece of art.

I thought someone just lost their barbecue and found it in the snow.
ReplyDeleteWould love to visit it one day:)
ReplyDeleteWould love to visit if I am in Hartford...not too fond of the big pile of snow right there though...
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of that white stuff! Love to see a shot of that sculpture when the pile is gone.
ReplyDeleteIs that BBQ meant to be a book?!
ReplyDeleteArt must be an important part of the Hartford community. I like that.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see a school that embraces the arts in an era where many are making huge cuts. I like the shot too, with the sculpture in the snow.
ReplyDeleteI guess you're braver than I am. It's nice that they let you shoot there. I think I hold back too much for fear of getting questioned.
Oh, and Bakers Beach is a private segment of the Horseneck Beach State Reservation.
Love the sculpture. Art is a wonderful treat in our busy world.
ReplyDeleteIs the Floridian the only one who likes the snow in the shot?! And, I really like that book flapping in the wind. Isn't public art great?
ReplyDeletenope SRQ, I love the snow too. Wish we'd get some here again. Two things I like looking at...art and snow.
ReplyDeleteCould use a serious course in photography. But wouldn't go back to high school for all the tea in China.
ReplyDeleteI think exhibition and art programs at school are very important, we need to support creative ideas and developing imagination!
ReplyDeleteThis picture is beautiful!Modern building there!
Léia
It must be an interesting place.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture Jack, and so much snow...
Greetings
A very interesting place... You still have a lot of snow around!
ReplyDeleteThe amount of snow keeps on amazing me. The composition is really cool, Jack.
