I think this qualifies for Ruby Tuesday.
The bright red building is The Spigot, an old-fashioned neighborhood bar. The West End of Hartford was developed mainly in the 1880 - 1930 time period. It is loaded with marvelous late Victorian and Colonial Revival buildings.
When I took this photo, the temperature was about 4 degrees Fahrenheit. One thing about winter in New England, though, is that even when it is cold, the sky is usually blue, which makes it OK.
You can never go wrong with a winter snap when there's a blue sky.
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent photo...the colors are magnificent and the untrodden snow is gorgeous. I'd love to spend time in this area. But I have to say that nothing makes 4 degrees OK. Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, there are horses in the "horse capitol of the world." Another sheesh!
Looks like an area I would love to walk thru.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful red and architecture! The white snow gave an elegant contrast there!Wonderful shot!
ReplyDeleteLéia
Wonderful winter picture of this nice place, Jack!
ReplyDeleteEvokes such a cozy, New-England feeling!
ReplyDeleteLovely scene with the pristine snow covering everything... I was doing fine until you mentioned the temperature... 4 degrees? Brrrrrrrrr!!
ReplyDeleteReally ravishing Ruby Red revelation!
ReplyDeleteYes, let's have a CDP convention in Eagan! Welcome!
Good job on this photo. At 4 degrees, I wouldn't be able to get my fingers to work well enough to press the shutter button.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a neighborhood filled with photographic possibilities! And I definitely agree with you, a blue sky makes a cold day feel less so.
ReplyDeleteThese photos can't properly convey just how cold it is.Still, this is a beautiful shot. Worth it, I think!
ReplyDeleteOoh, on a chilly day I'd be happy to belly up at The Spigot for a hot toddie. When I lived in South Dakota, where the winter temps are typically below zero without wind chill, my mantra was: Blue skies make it better!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely snow-covered scene! Looks like you need sturdy winter boots more than you need polka-dotted galoshes!
ReplyDeleteI had to convert Fahrenheit in Celsius and I didn't like the result... Temperature apart you got a lovely scene with immaculate snow, a wonderful sky and a bar with a fascinating name!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteStill mild and rainy here, I HATE IT.
A beautiful winter scene. One thing about snow and sunshine - it makes for a beautiful bright day. Nice one!
ReplyDeleteI'll take a pint!
ReplyDeleteIt's a handsome, old building, Jack. Here in Ontario, a blue sky in January or February ALWAYS means cold because there's no blanket of clouds to keep any warmer air from escaping into the atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteThe buildings make this look inviting, but the snow!! Oh my...
ReplyDeleteThat is so beautiful. You are more than welcome to send some down here. We'll take it!
ReplyDeleteJack, that is such a gorgeous shot! I had to call my husband over to check this one out, so pretty.
ReplyDeleteRED IS THE HUE
ReplyDeleteA touch of scarlet, a bit of red,
Ribbons of crimson around your head;
Everyone looking for color knows
Red is the hue that defines the rose.
(Neighborhood bars too, I suppose!)
